Hardanger Fiddles in the UK
Being based in the UK does not limit your ability to view Hardanger fiddles because there are several excellent examples in UK musuems. Here we try to summarise what we know about all publicly accessible Hardanger fiddles in the UK. If you have any more information, or corrections, we would welcome your feedback.
Starting our list in the North, we have the Musical Instruments Museum at the University of Edinburgh. The instrument was made in 1929 by Åsmund V Källår.
Slightly further South, we have the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. They have one made in about 1845 by Erik Johnsen Helland, and one
We then come to a cluster of London-based instruments. The Royal College of Music matches it’s Northern sibling by having a (description of instrument).
